Poor Customer Service - Pick n Pay Elspark
I am terribly upset with the poor level of customer service I received from PnP Elspark and records will reflect that this is not the first service related issue that I have experienced in this store either. Each time I escalated a complaint to you I was offered an apology and reassured that my shopping experience at this store will be better the next time around but it rarely ever is!
I visited this store on 4 April 2023 at approx. 19:30 and after shopping I made my way to the payment counter. When I got there I found the cashier (Winnie) sitting down and chit chatting with somebody next to her who appeared to be a packer. She did not immediately acknowledge me as a customer and after a brief moment she stood up and started ringing up my items. She did not have the courtesy to greet me or offer a smile at the very least so I said to her in a sarcastic tone " Hello to you too"...even then she ignored me and just said "plastic"...I was upset at her response and said to her my name is not plastic and that you should have the courtesy to greet your customer. In a very arrogant and abrupt manner she rep**** that she did greet me and that I never hear her so I said to her that she is lying because my father was standing with me and neither one of us heard her greeting. I said to her that I could hear you chit chatting in a loud voice to your colleague surely I would have heard you greeting me but you did not greet me and my father can attest to it. Instead of offering me a sincere apology and then greeting me she kept on insisting in a very rude tone that she did greet me and I did not hear her. Her facial expression appeared as if she was irritated with me and whilst speaking to her she kept turning her attention away from me and looking elsewhere. I felt very offended and humiliated by her behaviour and the way I was being treated so I asked her to call the manager. The manager, David, approached me and I explained to him what had just transpired to which he offered an apology, told me that he would address the issue with the cashier and get somebody else to assist me. Even whilst explaining the situation to the manager Winnie kept interrupting and speaking over my voice clearly demonstrating her arrogance and lack of remorse for her behaviour.
Winnie was very rude to me...she was unfriendly, abrupt and arrogant in her manner. Her attitude towards me as a customer left me feeling humiliated and less valued! With staff like her it's no wonder that customer service levels are so poor...one has to lead by example!
As a service provider you should know that the very basics of customer service is to simply acknowledge a customer by offering a friendly smile and greeting yet my shopping experience in your store is a clear indication that you are either clueless in this regard or that you just don't care about your customers as you claim you do. How can you strive for service excellence you cannot get the basics right?! Pathetic service levels seems to be a growing trend in your stores these days!!!
Terribly appalled!
