Pnp Woodlands - rude staff and Manager

My wife went to buy a gift card at the till in Pick 'n Pay Woodlands. A single item to pay for, should have been a quick and easy checkout. But what a terrible experience!

From the moment when my wife got to the till, the till assistant had a really negative attitude and was unhelpful. She did not like the fact that she had to manually type the Smartshopper number. The till assistant got angry and made a big scene in front of other customers.

The Pnp app did not work, luckily my wife has an electronic copy of her smartshopper card on her phone in the 'Stocard app', it is a great app, it stores multiple cards and works in every shop. All the till assistant needed to do was to scan the bar code of the smart shopper card. Unfortunately pnp systems are too far behind to allow the till assistant to scan a barcode on a smartshopper card (woollies and every other shop allows this, why cant you?).

So because the Pnp app did not work and Pnp till does not allow their staff to scan bar codes, the staff think that it is right to treat customers like dirt!? The till assistant proceeded by calling the manager who instead of helping erupted into an argument with my wife. Another till assistant started making comments and soon there was a gang of them commenting in their own language, s******ing, laughing, and ganging up on my wife. They refused to help with the smartshopper card number. They were all angry and unhelpful. One of them snatched the gift card that my wife was trying to buy and accidentally ripped it. My wife asked politely for a new gift card, and the gang of them refused and said "you can go buy your own envelope to put this broken gift card into".

Ironically this gift card is going to be donated to a charity and we wanted to make it really special for them. To give them a torn gift card is the opposite of what our donation was supposed to be. With this disgusting treatment I wish I had chosen another shop to purchase a gift card from so that the recipient of this gift could go shop somewhere decent.

I did not take the staff names, but this incident happened about 30 minutes ago so if somebody from Pnp sees this now, you can still catch the manager on duty.
