PnP Smart shopper points nightmare

I feel bittersweet about this one. Bitter in that my points expired and I had no clue points expire. I mean it has never happened before. Apparently there were warnings on the till slips. What I don't get however is why they did not just tell us verbally just before they ask if we want a plastic or not. I never read the bottom of my till slips and now I wonder how much did I loose all in all. Anyway I logged in a call on their customer service line and after days they finally answered and the agent promised they will return the money in 24-48 hours. I will wait.

But why must we call to get refunded our lost points, why can't PnP reimburse everyone and make sure they warn us well in advance when they make changes. I mean the way we get points has been halved now a point is R2 not R1 anymore, I never signed up for that, now the points expire and I never signed for that. The points were actually the main motivators for me to buy at PnP but now I am not sure.

I am happy they are returning the 1800 points they say I lost but it should have been more.

Hi Khwezi,

Thank you for taking the time write to us.

We are sorry that you missed the communication from Smart Shopper.

Smart Shopper points will be valid for 12 months. Money earned from Smart Shopper points’ switches will be valid on the Smart Shopper card for 3 years. Only points that have reached 12 months will expire and not all of your points. (eg. points earned in December 2016 will be reaching 12 months at the end of December 2017 therefore the points earned in that month will expire). The same method will be used for all points on your card accordingly.

We value you as a Pick n Pay customer and are committed to improve continually on our service levels.

Kind Regards,

Vanitha Venketas
