PnP Gordonsbay terrible with their warrantee and exchanges policies!
We bought a R600 heater from PnP Gordons Bay in 08 July 2019. The warrantee on the heater was for 12 months. 2 months after the purchase (in September 2019), we took the heater back to the store because it stopped working. PnP exchanged the heater for a completely new one. In the last 2 weeks, the same issue happened again. On 28 July 2020 we took the heater into the store and explained to the person on duty that the same problem happened.
He told us there is nothing he can do (and today, 28 July 2020) Ram Moodley the store manager said the warrantee on the heater expired and therefor they will not be exchanging the heater.
Since we obtained a new heater from the store, in my opinion, the warrantee is on new heater (September 2020) and not applicable to the original sales transaction.
It is unacceptable that warrantees are based on date of original sale even when we exchanged the faulty item.
When we exchanged faulty the heater, they simply took it back and gave us a new one. No explanation on warrantee terms of the exchanged item. It is unacceptable that PnP Gordonsbay staff explains "their rules and regulations" verbally post a sales when a customer comes and complains.
In my opinion, warrantees are not just transferable from one item to the next without the express intent thereof. Every item (not transaction) has its own warrantee.
HERE'S WHAT YOU DO WHEN THEY'VE SOLD YOU A FAULTY ITEM:
DO NOT exchange it for another item.
Rather get a refund and walk away or purchase another item if you really have to. Exchanging the item, they will most definitely cheat you on the warranty of the new item and will hide behind a response like below.. It's a question of semantics, but purchasing a new item gives you a full new warranty period as opposed to exchanging for a new item and only getting a part of the warranty..
HERE PNP PRIVATE REPLY...
We have done a follow up on this with our appliances Buying Team and have been advised that the warranty starts with the original purchase, if the product is replaced the warranty period of the new product does not extend or renew the warranty.
