PnP and the Consumer Protection Act
Last Friday (24 May) I popped down to Pick 'n Pay Welgemoed to buy an iron as our one stopped working, bought a Mellerware iron. Returned home and our domestic came to me a bit later telling me it takes her 10 minutes to iron a shirt, the iron doesn't steam well, sticks and basically it's just junk compared to our previous Defy iron.
Today (Monday 27th) my wife took it back, in its box, with the slip and asked to return it for a refund. The staff told her that it cannot be returned if it works. As far as I'm aware, the consumer protection act is here precisely for situations like this and PnP is obliged to refund me for the item due to it being unsatisfactory.
Shops like takealot would do this without any hesitation.
