Please explain Double the Difference

Double the Difference - This is what it says and I QUOTE " If any item scans at a higher price than displayed on shelf and the barcode corresponds, we will give you the item at the marked price, PLUS double the difference off the first item and the subsequent items at the lower price.

I purchased an item which had R79.99 on the packaging and scanned R89.99, I queried this and a supervisor was called who rectified the price but the Double the Difference didn't apply because the sale wasn't RUNG off all the items were rung up but the sale wasn't concluded so DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE DOESN'T APPLY.

I then asked to see the Manager, MAZWAAN ISAACS, hoping he would sort it out he actually said that the Supervisor was right as the sale wan't concluded.

PICK 'N PAY PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PLEDGE STATEMENT AS IT IS FALSE AND ADVISE ME THE CLIENT THAT I MUST CLOSE THE SALE, THEN CALL THE SUPERVISOR AND THEN YOUR POLICY APPLIES.

This was Pick 'n Pay Kenilworth. I have had similar instances in Pick 'n Pay Constantia as well as Pick 'n Pay Gabriel Road. The cashier rang off the sale I paid and then did the necessary to give me the Customer the deserved experience and as to not further waste my time and that of the other Patrons.

Disgusted by the Manager's response

Thank you for the reply.

Here is what should've happened. I alerted the cashier to the incorrect price. She then called the Supervisor to rectify the error. The Supervisor should've rung off the sale, I could've paid and then do the necessary to honour that Double the difference Promise. Gabriel Road's Supervisor did that, Constantia's Supervisor did that.

Accountability is part of being a Leading Brand it starts with your training and the way you want your staff to treat your valued customers.

This was a total waste of my time

Shame on you Pick 'n Pay.
