Pick' Pay Eden Terrace
The question is What Caliber of person does Pick'n Pay Eden Terrace employ? On Thursday 26th of March 2020 prior to South Africa's Lock down re the Covid-19 virus. my wife and myself both pensioners went to the store to purchase a few essential items. There was a queue outside the entrance to the supermarket which we willing stood in. Whilst in the queue we were approached by and elderly couple who has just exited Eden Terrace Pick'n Pay who advised that they were allowing pensioners to enter the side entrance which also happens to be the exit. We were quit relieved as standing in the queue was rather tiresome and hot and no one was adhering to the regulated distance between people. We took there advice and went to the side door and to our surprise we were met by the most abrupt and rude Pick'n Pay employee who would not allow us to enter the store. We explained that we were informed that pensioner's were allowed to enter the side door. She refused us entry and told us to go stand in the queue. of course at this time we had lost our place and would have to go to the end again. What bothered us the most she was not within the regulatory distance between people and had no face mask on when addressing us. She raised her voice to such an extend that I could feel the saliva droplets on my face. We simply left and went to a more reputable non Pick'n Pay store where we were treated like human beings and not animals. In light of this incident once the the lock down has ended i will be approaching the media to publish an article on the incident and in the interim will be posting it on social media sites.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding your experience.
Please accept our apologies for the poor shopping experience and service experience. We view this incident in a very serious light, we are busy addressing this with our management team.
To help combat the spread of Coronavirus, we have put in place a number of safety measures in store and online to ensure that our staff and customers are safe.
We are devoting even more time and resources to the stringent hygiene and cleaning regimes already in place in our online facilities.
Based on guidelines from the WHO, regularly washing your hands properly and using an appropriate hand sanitiser offers more protection against Coronavirus than wearing rubber gloves or masks.
This is why our staff are not wearing face masks or gloves.
We value you as a Pick n Pay customer and are committed to improve continually on our service levels. Kind regards,
The Pick n Pay Team
