Pick 'n PRAY not Pick 'n Pay - Online shopping *******

On the 29th June I placed an on line order with Pick 'n Pay to get all the wonderful specials that they advertised and a few other items I needed. The system tells you if there is stock when you select it for your basket so I was very surprised when I completed my basket and went to checkout that my list had been considerably reduced and I noticed that most of the items missing were the specials. Nevertheless I went ahead with my order. I had problems with the my address, with the delivery slot and delivery charge. After calls to customer service I eventually managed to place the order. Placing an online order is not easy and convenient. My delivery slot time was between 09H00 and 12H00, by 11H45 they had not arrived so I called and was told they would only be arriving around 13H00. As I would not be available at that time they organised to get the delivery done earlier. When the delivery eventually arrived some items were not delivered. Again these items were on special. My frozen stock was defrosted, bottles of wine were broken and the wine had leaked all over some items including my kitchen floor. The delivery guys said they would dlivery the wine the next day but my frozen goods would again be defrosed so not to bother. The next day my wine was delivered and when I spoke to the delivey guy he informed me that the frozen goods are in an ice chest and should not be defrosted. He also informed me the the depot was 10 minutes away from my address, so why was my order so late. I then had to get a credit for the frozen goods. Apparently you have to call the customer center to organise a credit, it does not automatically get done. Be aware, if you do not call you will not get a credit. I was told this by one of the people I spoke to. The amount of my credit was small and after numerous calls where I was cut off I decided I would be paying more for the calls than the amount of the credit. I received an email at the end of July informing me that a credit would be passed. It took a month for the credit to be done. So in a Nutshell, I did not get the specials, I did not receive all my items, I received broken and defrosed goods, and it takes a long time to get a credit. The fustration of Online shopping is just not worth it. It is easier to get into your car and drive to Spar, Checkers or Woolworths.
