Pick n Pay Verulam poor service overall especially from store manager Lovashnee with zero levels of experience on people skills(not even a smile or acknowledgement of customers)
Pick n Pay Verulam always disappointing on service levels, never changes even if you raise it directly with the store or management seriously they think it's a tuck shop that they running, I don't understand how this store is still operational with such poor quality of staff and service.
Friday 11th July 2025, we visited PnP Verulam to purchase general goods that we needed which round off to R1000.(Adhoc expense, monthly expense will be another 5k)
Part of the purchase was supposed to be a pack of Eveready batteries which I didn't end up purchasing due to unprofessional manager and zero compensation to a valued customer for Pick n Pay Verulam negligence, I should have returned all the goods and walked away but we still continue to support PnP even with such poor experiences.
My challenge for the day: Eveready Batteries pricing is incorrect on the display stand, it shows R59.99 while other pricing at the display shows R89.99 which I'm ok with either price as I am aware that this store has a history of incorrect pricing daily which we have proof of another item on our slip that had to be corrected due to incorrect pricing (Flora buy 2 for R110 but scans for around R120, which the lady at the till override the price only when we queried it with her). After raising the battery query with the cashier(possibly a supervisor as she was cashing up and had power to override at the till aswell), she advised that the batteries price scanning at R119.99 and it seems likes the display is all incorrect(after inspecting together) with pricing and the barcode is not even there, so I explained that's not fault however I won't mind paying the higher price at R89.99 or the lower price at R59.99 because that's what I see which for a customer I feel I was been pretty fair as I wasn't demanding a cheap price but I was actually trying to pay the pricing that I see overall even if it was a choice of prices which is silly, nevertheless she couldn't make that approval and called the store manager who was just sitting in the office, when she was called by the csshier she rudely said something to the staff which sounded like for what I need to come there, then decided to come through. When she came to us she didn't even greet or smile but came through with a very sour look on her face as if she was too busy to come attend to this, anyway while explaining the situation she says the R59.99 price has a arrow that points up which I also explained I understand this part from experience in the industry so il be fair however I showed her another display which shows a price and an arrow that shows above but there's no item to buy due the to arrow pointing upwards to a cardboard(outside the display) and not a display shelf which didn't make any sense, clearly we can see the pricing discipline is not carried out throughout this store which is not my fault but I'm been super fair here, Moving on I showed her the R89.99 price which looked more relevant if I had to make use of my own knowledge to get the pricing but then she says the barcode is incorrect, I explained that this is not my problem as I cannot get the barcode fixed reminder I am the end customer whom supposed to pick and pay hence the name of the franchise and not pick then query pricing and still get poor service levels and walk out the store angry, so she goes on and says I need to pay R119.99 as per the till, I explained to her that the entire display cabinet doesn't have any price that even displays a price of R119.99 so how do I pay this price, the max price on the shelf was R99.99 so where does this make any sense, her response was that she doesn't do the barcodes, I mean whattttttt seriously as a store manager really disappointing that Pick n Pay must continue making errors and the customer must pay the price for this literally.
I took out pictures of the display and pricing and further noticed that the price date shows 9th June yet today is the 11th of July, does this store manager even do checks daily or keep the staff inline? But she rather sit in her office and then come out to tell me that she doesn't so barcodes, so must the customer do this job for them?
I told her I will be reporting this but it seemed like she didn't care about the customer because she said that you reporting it so she can't do anything but didn't even offer to apologize for Pick n Pay Verulam a incompetency.
NOT so Happy Friday at Pick N Pay Verulam
Today is the 18th July,
