Pick n Pay The Glen: A ****** faeces-hole!

On the 12th November 2023 around 11H00 my brother, friend and I, walked into Pick n Pay the Glen, to do grocery shopping for my niece’s confirmation celebration! A joyous celebration that was meant to be! Little did we know that we would exit that ****** store, racially profiled and our rights infringed, by none other than black people no less! This is what happened:

The store is divided into the grocery section and the liquor store section, we started our shopping in the grocery section and bought items we needed and paid for them at the till.

We then proceeded to the liquor store with our trolley of groceries and bought and paid for what we needed that side as well, we proceeded to exit the liquor store and when we approached the exit of the main store, a lady by the name of Clementine then came from behind us, already with a bad attitude demanding to see our receipt and wanting to search our trolley. I asked her why does she want to search us and she could not provide any valid reason except “I can search you if I want to”, we flatly refused and told her she will not search us. We left the store and were on our way to the exit when we realised that no one else was being searched except for three black gents pushing a trolley.

We returned to the store to address the matter, when we asked for the store manager, we were pointed to a gentleman wearing a white shirt by the name of Tshepo, and there he was with Clementine, before we could even say anything, Clementine pointed at us and said to Tshepo “Ja, ke bona ba”(one of the most disrespectful things you can do to any human being).

I asked Tshepo what was the policy of the store with regards to searching customers, and an already hostile Tshepo aggressively answered that, it is their right to search any customer they want ( which is against the law and *******). I further followed up with the question as to where is that conspicuously displayed so that those who have a problem with this kind of indignity can then ensure that we do not enter these stores and no answer was received.

Further, I asked, why were we the only ones being disrespected and stripped of our dignity by being requested to be searched in public like this and the answer was that because we entered the liquor store with our trolley, which is not allowed and therefore they want to search us. Again, I further questioned as to where is such communication and none could be provided.

I then, asked the most important, question of all, what criteria do they use to search customers and if they had searched any non-Black customers on the day i.e. Whites, Indians and or Coloureds. Again, they said no.

At this point it became crystal clear that, we were being searched because three Black gentlemen cannot be out and about to just purchase groceries for them to celebrate a religious milestone of their niece. At this point, I flatly expressed my annoyance and frustration at this, expressed how I wish I did not come into this store, and to my surprise, the store manager arrogantly retorted “we can give you a refund if you want”, to which he pointed us to the kiosk to go fetch our money that Pick n Pay clearly can **** on if they want.

In summary: Pick n Pay indicates that they have a right to infringe upon their customers rights- that is to search customers without due cause

Pick n Pay the Glen is still stuck in apartheid South Africa somewhere in the 1950s where Black people are not good for anything either than *****ing, being ******* or whatever heinous nonsense we can be accused of.

They do not care about the dignity of Black men, our parents and grandparents suffered the indignity of being searched everywhere they went and Pick n Pay the Glen has kept this practice alive!
