Pick 'n Pay Sunningdale Cape Town Shocking Service
I used to live in Melkbos and I would sometimes find myself at the Sunngindale PnP - I would always find myself irritated at the fact that no matter what time I found myself at that PnP there was ALWAYS a queue and the queues were always slow. I decided not to do anything about it as this PnP was not my local PnP so would not have to deal with this on a regular basis. I have now moved to Sunningdale and I have been here for a month and I am appalled at how this PnP is run. The first week I was there I had a woman on the floor be rude with me when I requested help, I sat in an EXPRESS queue with a few items, for 15 minutes, and when I got to the front of the queue the teller was slow. The following day I went back to the PnP, for two items. it was a Sunday and yet again I was met by long queues where I waited - again, in the Express queue. I was mildly irritated, yet had to leave in a hurry. Every time since I am amazed at how there are always queues and the tellers are slow.
A week ago, I approached the manager and explained my frustration (all items noted above). The response I received was that he has been aware of this for a year, he does not know what to do about it and working there is giving him grey hairs. His "solution" was that every time I am met with the long queues or rude staff I must come to him directly.
This past weekend, I went to the PnP in Sunningdale and saw the queues again and turned around and decided to go shop at Woolworths instead.
Yesterday, I needed a few items again, and when I got to the PnP there were queues yet again and I had to go to the cigarette counter for my three items - this also took a long time.
I went to look for the manager as he said I must come to him should I be confronted with this again. He was in a meeting, I started to speak with a PnP employee about my frustration, he continued to say to me "he doesn't know why I am getting so stressed about this, calm down." I do not appreciate his tone nor his attitude. His unprofessional attitude is unbecoming of the PnP brand, he treated me like dirt
I then requested that he call the manager out of the meeting and at that time the manager was on his way out. I told the manager about my irritation over the weekend, that no matter what time I arrived at the Pnp there were queues, and his response to me was "where are the queues? I do not see them." Like I was crazy?
I continued to tell him about the PnP employees attitude towards me and at that point I could see how this employee was speaking about me, IN FRONT OF ME, to his colleague. The manager assured me that he would "deal" with the employee. A crowd of PnP staff came to watch close by and not once did the manager request that they disperse, that I be taken to a space where we could have a private conversation. Not once did he request my name or my number to assure me that he will get back to me - not once in the two separate discussions we had. I felt attacked by the staff, I felt cornered and disrespected
He did not leave me with the impression that my concerns were valid nor that they would be addressed. When I told him that "I do not believe that customer service is important to you" he just stared at me as I left
Both he and his employee conceded that people DO complain about the queues. The manager told me a week ago that he has been aware of this problem for a YEAR now. Why has nothing been done? How can a manager concede he is aware of a problem for a YEAR, yet nothing has changed
I NEVER had issues with queues at the Melkbos PnP, nor did I have the attitude from staff members and management in Melkbos like I have had the month I have been in Sunningdale- I no longer want to use this PnP for my shopping.
There is a definite lack of leadership in this PnP. I will be taking my business to Woolworths
