Pick n Pay staff smoking in public space

Pick n Pay staff congregate and smoke in the ba*****t parking area, on the ramp used by customers to push trolleys down to the parking area. This is also within 5 metres of the entrance to the store from the ba*****t parking.

It is not only an health hazard for the elderly, children and non-smokers but extremely unprofessional of Pick n Pay to permit their staff to smoke as customers walk by. Not only do they smoke openly, they also block the ramp with their presence and the tin they use to discard their smoke ash. The smoke lingers for long periods as there is no natural ventilation in the area.

I reported this complaint via the Pick N Pay website a few months ago and no response was received. I again raised the issue with the Customer Service manager at the store 2 weeks ago but the smoking continues.

Pick n Pay, it is ******* for your staff to smoke in a public place and also near the entrance to a public space. Here is the legislation :

Section 2 of the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act :

1(a) No person may smoke any tobacco product in (i) a public place (ii) any area within a prescribed distance from....entrance into a public place

(2) The owner of or person in control of a place or an area contemplated in subsection 1(a), or an employer in respect of a workplace, shall ensure that no person smokes in that place or area.
