Pick 'n Pay "specials"

Hi there Just a friendly warning if you happen to use the Hartbeestpoort Pick ‘n Pay in The Village Mall. Always please check their “specials” prices when you get to the till, to see that it is rung up correctly. I had an experience yesterday which made me very angry. They were advertising a “special” on Fry’s Original Burgers at R54.99 and I bought a box. When I got home and checked my slip it was still the normal price of R69.99. No discount on the slip! I went back today with my slip and spoke to the Manager. First of all I took him to the fridge where the “special” was displayed. Also the actual price bar in the fridge was flashing, again showing the “special” price. So he looked at my slip and asked me for the item. I didn’t have the box with me and explained this to him. The manager immediately told me that he could not give me the refund without the box. When I asked “why,” I was informed that he needed the box to prove that I actually bought the item. I said surely if I have my slip he could use one of the Fry’s boxes in the fridge to ring up my refund. He very firmly said “No “because he needed the box as proof. He then said “that I could have picked up the slip in the car park outside and come in to get a refund”. I was dumb struck. Why on earth would I have done that and known about this “special”, Anyway from my slip he could track my card details on the till records. I looked at him and said this is ridiculous. Again he said I must come back with the box and slip if I want to get a refund. Unfortunately this is not the first time at this particular branch that I have had problems when buying an item on a so-called “special” and got to the till to be charged the original price. But this really defeated me.
