Pick n Pay sold me expired baby formula and refuse to take it back

On the 20th December 2016 I bought a 400g tin of Nan baby formula at the pick n pay at Quagga center Pretoria. I realized when I got home home that it was the wrong type, so I decided to return it the following day. When I got to the store, the lady who sold the milk to me agreed that she sold the wrong one (nan 2 instead of nan 3). However the manager (Sibusiso), upon discovering that the formula they sold to me had already expired in September 2016, flat out refused to exchange the formula or refund me. He accused me of switching an expired can and attempting to gain from the store. Why would I go through that trouble and risk? I feel insulted and disrespected as a customer. He just left me standing there like a fool. Is that the way to treat a customer? Is that your customer care best practice,? I demand my money back plus an apology from the company.
