Pick n Pay smart shopper voucher not honored

After doing some shopping over the weekend at pick n pay I received 2xR50 smart shopper vouchers to be used before Wed 25 August Today 24 August I tried to purchase some cigarettes and was informed by the cashier that they do accept the vouchers as payment for this item I believe that vouchers should not be issued unless the issuer intends honoring the value issued What other items cannot to be purchased using the voucher???

Thank you for the response , I did receive a call from your William Nicol store and the vouchers will apparently be honored
