Pick n Pay - Smart Shopper extra Card
One of your employees dressed in all red accosted me in the shop about getting an upgraded Smart Shopper card. I told him I wasn't interested several times but he forced himself on me and would not leave me alone. He kept shaking hands with me multiple times as well as taking my phone out of my hands while I was using it. He kept reading my personal details without me giving consent. He refused to take no for an answer and kept getting in my face about me needing to give him details about my Smart Shopper. The man would not stop following me around the store. I believe his name was Simo at Kenilworth Center in Rondebosch Western Cape. I even told him that I had been given the sales pitch before (numerous times) and his response was "so what? what did they tell you? so what? they aren't me" and he would get up in my face. I was trying to browse onions and apples and he wouldn't let me do this. So I figured I would entertain him for 2 minutes so he could leave me alone, seeing as being harassed seems to now be a compulsory part of shopping at Pick n Pay that I was not made aware of. It ended up taking over 20 minutes. He kept asking me for all sorts of private details that no company on this planet should be asking of me. And pushing himself into using my phone when he shouldn't be. To top this all off, I kept being phoned on Saturday repeatedly by Pick n Pay employees who wanted to confirm my details that I had already given out - why must I keep on giving the same details 4 or 5 times, when I have already given them? Something is amiss here. And why must I be contacted repeatedly on a weekend when I was told during the week when I was trying to shop that everything had been taken care of? This is harassment. This is trying to force your customers to give you money against their will. This is *******. I shop at multiple retailers and have never had this kind of experience with any of them. The whole sales pitch to me was "not everyone qualifies for this because most people don't make the cut........" because of what? Advertise this in the shop then to everyone. There is no "exclusive secretive card for some people" in a retailer. That sounds extremely *****. Why should some people get deals when others don't? What are you trying to hide? Are you being ******? Are you segregating consumers? Is this some kind of Apartheid Capitalism? Back off. Stop doing this. I have seen many consumers being subjected to this harassment in-store, months before it happened to me. We want to spend our money on goods that our families need - not have someone follow us around the shop, badgering us. No means no. You are raping our free-will. I have said no to over 20 people in red-shirts and the one time I say yes - I end up opening a can of worms to get even more harassment. I am probably one of the lucky ones. You need to stop doing this in-store. Do it in a public forum where you plainly state what is going on, what you need from the consumer and what they get out of it - state the requirements plainly. Otherwise we are all going to simply view you as trying to get a quick buck from us. When we are already shopping in your store. How disrespectful is that? To try force us to give you more money when we are already shopping in your store. Disgusting. Stop this. I will be posting the same on various forums and encouraging everyone I know to do the same - we don't need this in our lives.
