Pick n Pay ROSMEAD AVE

Man oh man, what a sad experience it's been watching the quality of this PnP go from great to quite well below average.

From the time this store opened, it became my go-to store based on location, stock, parking, and pricing (to an extent). Now, I would probably only go there as a last resort. I mean, there are plenty of options close by, so I can't understand why this branch acts like it has no competition in the area. Let me explain what led me to take the time to write out this review. In the past, I have overlooked the following:

TWICE now, yes, I have been burnt twice, I have come home to find out that the meat I have bought is off/rancid. To the point that even just yesterday, I bought chicken breasts that barely proved good enough to be dog food (at the expense of still stinking out the house). I obviously know enough to check expiry dates on meat (especially "fresh"). I mean, maybe all those staff wandering around, having personal chats and get-togethers, could take some time out now and then to check on the meat.

Staff (not ALL of them) that offer an amazing combination of not caring, being unprofessional and in some cases, not even knowing how to perform the very task assigned to them (Like activating a SIM card while assigned to that counter). I personally had to drive up and down three times, and it all still resulted in a useless SIM. Let me just throw in a case here where three of us waiting in line for at least 20 minutes at this counter got pushed aside to help a customer wanting to do an item return. This customer just walked in and bypassed the till lines first and then the counter lines. I will not mention the race factor that appeared to be in play.

Stock availability is getting worse and worse, or perhaps maybe they only pack out items in the evening, so I wouldn't know. Sometimes the butcher area is basically bare at like 10 am in the morning. And this is BEFORE any of the current issues, like the chicken shortage.

Smaller issues like the revised layout and lack of pricing on some items don't even seem worth mentioning now.
