Pick n Pay POPI Act bullying
Pick n Pay is allegedly in violation of my rights provided in the Protection of Personal Information Act commonly known as POPI Act. Pick and Pay has been granted permission(business license) to operate in the South African economy and must respect the rule of law and uphold my constitutional right to dignity and privacy.South Africa has a past history of an oppressive regime under an apartheid system whereby I was confronted and exposed to unjust and unfair law****** n Pay should encourage a culture of healing the injustices of our past especially in the consumer market place and not contribute to my feeling of hurt and pain (my psychological integrity)in violating my right to privacy and protection of my personal information in the context of processing a simple customer/consumer complaint.
It is absurd that in a constitutional democracy that allegedly my right to lawful processing and the processing limitation(do not infringe my privacy in an unreasonable manner) of my personal information is being violated in that Pick n Pay is citing policy and demanding telephonic disclosure to an unknown customer care call center agent my identity number and physical address of my residence to process my simple customer complaint with reference to smartshopper card points. One of the conditions of POPI is minimality and personal information may only be processed if,given the purpose for which it is processed,it is adequate relevant and not excessive.
I was reasonable and provided my name, cellphone number and date of birth and the smartshopper card number and I also alluded to having the proof of purchase receipt as we spoke telephonically, which in my opinion is sufficient for purpose to resolve my matter.Pick n Pay demanding additional personal information of my ID number and address is excessively one sided and overreaching your boundaries and you should not act ultra vires and in bad faith if you really have noble intentions( business ethics) to resolve customer complaints speedily and amicably without frustrations and unnecessary delays and inconvenience to myself to remedy the defect.
At time of writing my complaint remains UNRESOLVED...where is customer care??
