Pick N Pay – Poor Organisation
I often have to go to a Pick n Pay shop. One in particular really annoys me, although my complaint is true of all Pick n Pay shops. My grievance relates to the queues and social distancing. In the store, the customers have to stand between the product aisles to get to the cashiers. So, there may be seven queues to gain access to the three cashiers on duty. Now, one cannot see that there may be another queue in another aisle because the shelves obstruct one’s view. So, the result is no one knows who has first option to go to the cashier next. We have been living with social distancing for almost two years. We will certainly live like this for a few more years. Yet, Pick n Pay cannot pick their brains to arrange the shop so that there is one collective queue that gives access to the next free cashier. All Woolworths shops do it. Most Checkers and Spars have one queue. But, no, Pick n Pay cannot get this fixed. A few weeks ago, I complained to a manager at one shop in Johannesburg regarding this situation. She just looked at me. Then, today, I complained to two other managers at the same shop. They stared at me. They didn’t even have the decency to apologise for the inconvenience or to thank me for my suggestion. Damn rude attitude towards a paying costumer. I had a few things in the trolley but I just left them and went to Spar. Which brings me to another point and that Pick n Pay doesn’t sanitize the inside of the trolleys and baskets. It’s not that I am so worried about Covid. I am concerned about all the other contagious diseases that can be transmitted with uncleansed surfaces. Pick n Pay management seem to think they do not have to provide an excellent service. Poor performance.
