Pick n Pay panini rolls
Depending where I am, I shop at 3 branches of Pick n Pay: The Crescent; La Lucia and Umhlanga Village. This is because their quality, service and prices are generally excellent. The only failing at The Crescent and La Lucia branches are the panini rolls. It appears they don't make these from traditional sourdough, but rather shape the dough they use for hot dog rolls, or other bread, into a panini shape. So you have a panini-shaped roll that tastes like cotton wool - no texture and no chewiness. I have spoken to these two branches about this, but nothing has changed. The Umhlanga Village branch, on the other hand, has REAL panini rolls -- chewy, full of texture and delicious. This branch also goes beyond the normal excellent service provided by all Pick n Pays. Nothing is too much trouble. They bend over backwards to help. They will order any, and all requests, and they follow up religiously. A great place to shop.
