Pick 'n Pay online shopping nightmare

Good Day, could you please assist me in obtaining the minimum basic customer service from pnp waterfront? I had purchased a product that PnP was advertising on their website, it was on sale. I selected the item, the collection store, date and time. Unfortunately, when I went to the store at the agreed upon date /time I was asked to please wait as my order was not ready and that they are unpacking a truck and that it is most likely on the truck. For me, this is totally unprofessional. As it turns out, I had been taken for a ride. I was told that the store had not stocked the item for the past 3 months and was offered either a different product or the option to cancel my purchase. I wad flabergasted and simply chose to cancel the order. But as I drove home I realised that PnP had had 4 days to contact me to inform me about the lack of availability but they didn't. Firstly, why does PnP advertise products on sale when they do not even have it in stock? Surely this is ********* and against consumer protection. Secondly, why offer a service that is meant to save you time when in reality it wastes the customer's time, as the store is unable to even effect basic delivery details with their customers when they are at fault. I then decided to log a call with PnP as I desperately wanted to purchase the item. This was the reference number of my call: Pnp reference no: ********** 037. After logging this call I was contacted by the store manager and told that he would source the product from Vangate Mall as the product was in stock and that he would contact me on the Monday. I contacted him on the Wednesday to ascertain the progress only to be told that the product would arrive by Friday. This incident started on the 24th February and I am still without either the product or a refund. The last correspondence from PnP Waterfront was last Tuesday 6th March with the promise of delivery by Friday 9th March and that someone would contact me on the Friday to confirm the time.

Shopping online was supposed to be about saving time and convenience but this experience has left me never wanting to use the pnp online shopping again, let alone frequent your stores. I am really annoyed by the terrible service and utter disregard for tardiness and customer regard. Why does PnP not assume ownership for this terrible service?

Customers should not have to go through this.
