Pick 'n Pay On Darwin Kraaifontein Must Improve
One of the reasons for my buying my home in an estate in this area was the fact there was a new Pick 'n Pay opening close by.
Pick 'n Pay has always been part of my life and I am also a proud shareholder.
On the Opening Day of the Pick 'n Pay "On Darwin" they did not have the stock that they had advertised in their "Opening Specials" Brochure.
If you are going to be running a special then you must have the stock on the floor and back up stock in the back - not this store.
The above was the prelude to the experiences which deserve minus stars .
On every visit there has been an issue from charging the normal price for an item and not the "special price" resulting in my having to drive back to the store to obtain a refund. Check your till slips!
The straw that broke the camels back was on New Year Eve when we were standing in line to buy Lotto Tickets and a customer was being assisted with a Mango Airlines booking.
The person doing the booking was slow and was being supervised, this was not the time to be supervised. The person with the s****set should have completed the booking which should not have taken more than 5 minutes..it took more than 20 minutes. I asked the supervisor whether the people buying Lotto tickets could be served at the same time, this was not possible she rep**** due to there only being one cash till point.
If I were the manager (who I have never seen) I would have asked the Supervisor to assist the Customer and then trained the other person on how to complete the Mango Booking on a day when the store is quiet. This is not rocket science.
This stores inefficient provision of another till point and inefficient training resulted in the customer being assisted with the Mango ticket and Myself exchanging words which would have been avoided had there been a visible Manager in the store.
The Mango Customer took it upon herself to apologize on behalf of certain Pick n Pay customers - here again the staff should have stepped in to prevent this from escalating further. My response was that people wanted to get home seen as it was New Years Eve and did not want to stand in a line for such a long time.
Pick n Pay should have some kind of form that is completed by the customer and then this form is used by the person making the booking. Feeding someone verbal information is bound to result in mistakes being made with regards to spelling of a name and it is inefficient in this day and age.
Improving the interface will also improve the customer experience, interaction and also make the process easier for the staff therefore improving staff morale which is also important.
It isn't pleasant to have moaning and rude customers either, this only destroys morale and I am very aware of the circumstances that the staff live under, however simultaneously they do have a job.
With the above in mind, I am hoping that Pick n Pay improves the inefficiencies and that the store does its best to charge the advertised price.
We value you as a Pick n Pay customer and are committed to improve continually on our service levels. Kind Regards, The Pick n Pay Team

Zandre, The Manager of the Store Called me to discuss my complaint.
I wish to correct what I wrote about the Manager never being around as I always see her on the floor, packing shelves, merchandising and running around. I mistook her for a line supervisor as Zandre never sits still and is always on the busy - one always expects to see managers sitting in the elevated box barking orders over the PA system. Not this manager, she rolls up her sleeves and sets a great example for her staff. During the call she told me that she loves her job and wants make her store the number 1 store.
One knows that this not just talk or trying to appease a disgruntled customer because I have witnessed her hard at work and Zandre really deserves some form of recognition. I would give her shares in that store if I were the owner - she sure deserves it.
Zandre definitely subscribes to the Pick 'n Pay that Raymond Ackerman built and I can see her in the role of CEO in the not too distant future.
