My husband and I were looking to purchase a smart tv in March this year. We do all of our shopping at pick n pay hyper woodmead even though we moved to Centurion last year as we felt comfortable at that branch. We were grocery shopping at the woodmead branch when we started browsing around the store for a tv, We spoke to a sales rep about which tv will best suit our budget and needs and we were told that the JVC 58inch smart tv is a good deal. All we needed was the funds and TV license. Since we did not have a tv license we left and later on went to the Centurion branch (just for convenience). We were looking at the jvc 58inch smart tv when a salesman told us JVC is a bad brand and would only give us problems, he then suggested a Sinotec. We werent happy with the fact that he was trying to push it on us so we left and returned to the woodmead pick n pay hyper, we sorted out our tv license there and spoke to a sales lady, this was on the 8th or 9th of March this year. We explained to her what the salesman at the Centurion branch told us and she stated he was probably just trying to make a quick sale of the Sinotec. She said that the jvc 58inch smart tv is a good brand, we then purchased the tv along with some other items and left. The tv started giving us problems. from Friday 19/07/2019 till Sunday 21/07/2019 the tv was stuck on the WISDOM SHARE screen. This was not the 1st time, and the manual for the tv does not give any solutions. Frustrated, we took the tv back to the woodmead branch which is 21km away from our home, we spoke to the same sales lady that sold us the tv, she stated that this was not the 1st JVC tv to come back with the same issue. she then called the manager, he also advised us that jvc is a problem, we explained that we spent R7499 on a tv that malfunctioned so fast and since he also said that JVC is a problem we said we dont want it back, neither do we want another jvc tv as it only has 12month warranty and what happens when the tv malfunctions again ?he then adivsed us to speak to another sales person called Tapelo. we asked for a smart tv of the same value and he said he will get the H.O.D to call us back before 10am today. we received no call, so my husband called in and spoke to the H.O.D named Malibongwe. Malibongwe stated that all he can do is book the tv in for repairs or give us another tv but we have to pay a difference of R500 for a 58inch tv of good quality. My husband explained that this is an unforseen expense and we dont have the funds to pay that difference. I then called in and spoke to Tapelo, as he advised me yesterday there were two different 58 inch Hisense tvs. 1 is hisense 58inch smart A6100 and the other is hisense 58inch smart A5800. The A6100 is the latest model with the latest specs and is R7999 and the A5800 is an older model with older specs and is R7499 (same price as the pathetic jvc we purchased) , tapelo also stated the the hisense 58inch smart A5800 was trial and error and they dont have stock all they have of that is the 1 on display. This has caused such a big mess up. We must now settle for an older model? because pick n pay hyper decided to sell absolute garbage to the customers? I then asked my husband to call and sort it out as I am losing patience! My husband called and spoke to Tapelo, explained to whole long story again and asked him to get Malibongwe to fix it and call back. and still we received no calls!! we were loyal customers for years and were even going to open a store account with you guys. now there is no chance of that happening! i am going to post this complaint on social media and on hellopeter.
