Pick ‘n Pay Louis Trichardt contravenes the CPA

The Louis Trichardt branch of Pick ‘n Pay located within the Makhado Crossing Mall consistently registers products at a higher price, as registered at check-out, than is advertised. I live in the area and shop at Pick ‘n Pay consistently almost every two weeks and have had to query my charges at check-out almost every time over the last few months. Records at the store will reflect that I have had to be paid back money regularly by the store. Not only is this practice of overcharging dishonest and poor management practice from the store’s side but it is also against the law, as reflected in section 23 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. In the past, when I have queried this situation, staff at the store have blamed this on pricing set by Pick ‘n Pay head office. If this is the case then Pick ‘n Pay as a company may be engaging in ******* retail practices. Even if it is simply a case of negligence on the part of store management, this is unacceptable and still constitutes breaking the law. I wonder how many customers who do not check their receipts are being ****** by the staff of this store.
