Pick n Pay Glengarry Public Holiday Closing Times

I had a very unpleasant experience at Pick n Pay Glengarry today. I realise it is a public holiday, Youth Day, and that staff don't work full hours and they should go home early but I couldn't find the public day trading hours on the web, it just said 7pm so I took a chance and went there at 5:45pm and saw it was thankfully still open.

Then at 6:05pm as I was about to go pay at the till, suddenly without warning all the staff started leaving and they started switching the lights off. This left me and a few other customers stranded with our trollies and no one was telling us what was happening. This included a mother with her child and their grandmother who don't normally shop at that store.

When I asked what was happening they said it was closing time and they quickly opened one till to let the last few customers through. When I asked to speak to the manager, she started arguing with me that it was a public holiday and I should have known that it was closing time at 6pm even though the sign on the outside of the store, which I did not see, said they closed at 5pm. I just don't think this was the very good service that I have come to expect from Pick n Pay and I didn't appreciate the way the manager handled the situation.
