Pick 'n Pay - frozen foods disaster AGAIN

This is basically a copy of the email that went to the Pick 'n Pay customer care email address AND the same issue I reported on an online page on Facebook.

I bought frozen crumbed chicken fillets at the Pick 'n Pay CAPE GATE shop 3 days ago. I drove home immediately after my shopping at Pick 'n Pay and unpacked the frozen items into my freezer at home.

When I opened the packet today (3 days later), the fillets were all frozen together into 1 big mess, instead of being separated in the container (as usual). After I left it outside for a while, to see if I can partially unfreeze them to separate it, it had a slightly sour smell.

In addition to this, the production/produced date on the packet shows October 2024. This means that the item is already 10 months old. I know that it can be kept for long in a freezer – but at the store?

This is the SECOND time that I have an issue with frozen goods bought at the same shop. The previous issue was when I brought frozen waffles at the shop a few months ago. The expiry date was still in the future, but when I opened the packet there was mould spots on ALL the waffles. At the time I wanted a refund because I had to discard the waffles. After they initially sent me a msg regarding a voucher of 0.00, I was then informed that I couldn’t get a cash refund or a voucher, but I was promised points back on my Pick n Pay shopper card. I had to query that again after they said it was done, because it didn’t reflect immediately. The fact that I couldn’t get my actual money back in return for money spent, was unacceptable, but unfortunately I didn't check their returns policy at the time.

This time around I don’t want any refunds, etc. I’d rather suffer the loss of the food AND the money than having to deal with the incompetence of your shop’s “customer care” like before.

Please don't bother to contact me because I won't reply either. I just want the public to know about the quality of this shop's food. And if you look for reviews online, this seems to be a trend in the overall quality of the bigger chain.

It’s safe to assume that this shop will never be on my list again. It’s a disgrace to sell FOOD items to customers that’s in this horrible condition.

Pick n Pay team, thanks for replying on this issue. However, you can close the issue on your side - due to customer unwilling/not interested in resolving it. I just want to report this and walk away. Take it as a learning for your company and the store. I checked on social media and there's more people who feel that your shops rate low compared to other big retail shops.
