Pick n Pay Farramere- False advertising in store

I have used the Pick n Pay "Smart Shopper" program extensively. Not only do you get points but discounts are also offered in store. I regularly do my monthly groceries at Pick n Pay stores and get good discounts off the smart shopper program, to the point that I will select items that are promoted in the program due to the savings.

On the 5th of June I popped into the Pick n Pay Farrarmere to get a few things, I noticed there was a special via the smart shopper program on Pepsi Max. The offer was buy 3 for 36 rand, the normal price being R14.99 per bottle.

I get to the till and present my smart shopper card and once I have paid, I check the slip and notice that there are no smart shopper discounts. When I speak to the manager about this, he advises me in the most dismissive and arrogant way that the system is down and there is nothing he can do. No effort was made to rectify the situation.

I know this is a small amount, however the financial effect would have been far greater if I had been doing my monthly shop and had selected items that were discounted via the smart shopper program.

Nowhere on the in store adverting for this promotion does it state the the smart shopper "system" must be online for you to get this discount. The reasonable person would expect that on seeing promotional material in store for a particular offer, they would get that discount at the till. Pick n Pay Farrarmere's failure to do this thus constitutes false advertising.
