Pick n Pay Estcourt

On the 13/02/23, I purchased a pack of Huggies Gold pull-ups, size 6 26's, from your Estcourt store. Upon, taking the pack from the shelf, I saw a shelf talker price of R126 for the exact same pack I was buying.

When I reached the cashier, named Wandile, she scanned the item and informed me it was R140, even after swiping a smart shopper card.

On atleast 4 previous occasions at the same store, I had the same issue with purchasing the exact same item. The supervisors have always had to intervene and rectify the situation. On a previous occasion when I questioned the supervisor, she informed me that the pack was indeed R126 as marked and not R140. With this in mind, I proceeded to inform the cashier that the price I have seen marked on the shelf for this item is R126 and not R140. She went into the isle and came back a while later with a shelf talker for R140. I went back to the isle with the supervisor but the shelf talker for R126 had 'miraculously disappeared'. In fact, whole shelf did not have any shelf talkers at this point.

The lady supervisor proceeded to tell me that they have promotions all the time which change and I explained that it was not a matter of a promotion but according to the CPA, a consumer should given the price that they see an item marked for. But the shelf talkers were already removed. Is this ethical business practices? How does a cashier make a customer such a fool by removing an incorrect price from the shelf and playing ********?? Why did I have the same experience of incorrect pricing on so many occasions? What is the duty of the floor management/ supervisors in terms of correct item pricing???

As a store manager myself at one of South Africa's leading clothing retailers for over a decade, I am well aware of the CPA laws, ethical business behaviours, correct pricing and most importantly acting in the best interests of the consumer. It is NEVER ever okay to make a fool of the customer.

I have since purchased the item for R140 at the very same ******** cashier but I'm left with many questions about the store's business integrity and practices. I will not be letting this slide and while I await feedback from you, I will be posting this experience across social media. This is unacceptable
