Pick n Pay Clothing Sunninghill - Check the attitude of your staff

Went to do some shopping at Pick n Pay clothing in Sunninghill and managed to find some awesome stuff on sale. Will never go back again though. My boyfriend and I have the Clientéle App which we pay for monthly, and it gives us a R100 voucher a month for retailers, one of which is Pick n Pay. Tried to use the vouchers we had at the till point. The cashier was very helpful and patient and despite her efforts to get the vouchers scanned in, she could not do so.

Someone, whom I assume to be a manager in the branch, offered to help the cashier, but she also couldn't get the voucher to clear. When asked what the issue might be, we were advised that its loadshedding that's an issue with the voucher being utilised. This would be true, if it was actually loadshedding at that given time. However it was not, and my boyfriend asked if there was someone they could call who could maybe help and we were told even if they phoned that person, the problem is loadshedding.

We then asked if we could come back in a bit, since we had other shopping to attend to. We were told that we could and hopefully the system will work. We came back about 45 min later, and asked if the store could keep the items until Monday, because we didnt want to lose out on our vouchers which would expire in a few days and were rudely told, no, its not in their protocol. We tried to explain that we are not blaming them for the system error but its also not our fault and we shouldn't be prejudiced. Another employee at the branch then tried to assist the same cashier as before and she also could not get the vouchers to go through the system. We repeated the question about coming back on Monday to try, and were very rudely asked "what time". This should be irrelevant, but we said probably after work. She then told the cashier to go and ask the manager. The manager said its fine. We tried to explain to the lady who had asked what time, that we were not trying to be difficult, but it seems unfair to pay for something and then when we choose to use it, either it doesnt work, or the staff don't know how to apply the voucher on their system. We advised her that she was being a bit rude and she just ignored us.

The senior staff need to check their attitude in this branch. Their attitude is not appreciated, nor should it be tolerated, hence this review. It is not a customer's problem, or rather shouldn't be, simply because a staff member is frustrated with a problem that they can't solve, and refuse to phone their head office etc to assist them. There is a saying that goes, ignorance of the law is not a defence. In this instance, ignorance of your staff having a bad attitude is bad customer service and will lose your customers.

We will be going through today to see if we can purchase our goods, and if the attitude of the staff hadn't been so poor, I would have gladly paid the full amount of R900 odd rand without the vouchers. Given the attitude, if our vouchers don't work, I'll leave the purchase at the store.
