Pick n Pay Campus you for the good prices with rude disrespectful staff

On the 14th October I was in Pick n Pay clothing outlet at Campus Square and I stood at the table that is in front of the store while sorting out my baskets of clothing deciding what to take and what to leave. My kids were restless and I just wanted to get done and leave. While sorting out my items my 3 year old threw a cap that was on the table onto the floor, and my 8 year old picked it up. She did this twice, but I wasn’t quite paying attention as I was sorting my items out. Sizolwethu Hlophe then told my daughter to stop it. So I lifted my head and realised what my daughter had thrown the cap onto the floor. (We had been in the store for over an hour at this point so they also wanted to just leave) I then picked her up and said to Sizolwethu “shout at her aunty” to which Sizo snapped and started shouting at me, yelling it’s not her responsibility to discipline my child. She shouted “don’t tell me to discipline your child” you discipline your child, at which I tried to explain that I just wanted to get done, and that I wouldn’t be disciplining in public. She continued shouting at me, so I told her that I am going to complain about her and that she is damn rude. She screamed and shouted, and told me that she doesn’t care, she will give me the number where I can complain, I should “do it now” I should “go and complain” she doesn’t care!

I asked her what her name is and she ignored me, so I made my way to the till to pay as she continued to to shout at me while other patrons stood and stared, shocked at what was taking place. My husband had to ask her to please go while I was having my items rung up. She told him that she will not go, she is working and she will move around wherever she wants. I eventually got her name from another employee who I am not sure was the manager or not.

This is just pathetic horrible and shockingly revolting customer service. I understand that my child was naughty, but it was quite embarrassing to be humiliated by a Pick n Pay employee who just wouldn’t quit screaming at me repeatedly. I expect some sort of accountability here. And an apology from the employee. The service in this country is really getting from bad to worse. In the past month over spend a small fortune getting clothing for my kids at Pick n Pay so I’ve paid the cost of my child dirtying this cap a few times over. I’m just disgusted that staff can speak like this to customers
