Pick n Pay ASAP Safety Concerns

Pick n Pay ASAP,

I reported aggressive and violent behaviour experienced from their delivery guy in April. The mistake I made, was giving this service another try. Today, I placed an order around 18:00, their office called me just before 22:00 in the evening to confirm if I had received my delivery. They sent the same unstable, aggressive, and violent driver I reported in April 2024 .

This order was not only delivered way later than expected, but this driver expected me to leave my minor children alone in the house and go help him with the grocery bags downstairs. For goodness sake, why not just call at a reasonable time to check if it still made sense to deliver this order? If they had called me at 19:00, I would have just told them to cancel the order since I was already getting ready for bed. Accepting this order at 22:00 would be inconvenient. As a woman, how did they expect me to leave my minor children unattended to follow a violent stranger in the middle of the night. Of course, I refused to go downstairs and to follow this aggressive and violent man. He became even more aggressive with me and my children and neighbours had to go through the trauma of hearing this man shout at the top of his voice (at 22:00 in the evening) and demand that I follow him. He had only brought toilet paper with him when he came up the stairs. I had just grabbed the toilet paper and decided to lock my door for safety reasons. After locking my door, he shouted at the top of his voice demanding I bring back the toilet paper so that he could return the groceries to the store. I refused to open the door for him due to safety concerns and told him to take back the rest of the groceries to the store and charge for the toilet paper. Even when he banged our door, I refused to open for him.

We were left feeling so traumatised by this man! I am so disappointed with the service from Pick n Pay ASAP, especially since I had reported this staff member's behaviour. As for the groceries that the man took with him, left outside or tempered with, I chose to not put my life and my children's lives in danger. I refused to open the door for that violent unstable man! I had to contact our security company and this order really messed up our evening.

I haven't opened the door since the violent man threatened to take back the groceries to the store. I would rather lose money (+/- R1340 worth of groceries) than lose my life over food. It is just shocking that Pick n Pay has repeatedly sent this driver to my home, after I reported him. The fact that he knows where I live is unnerving. I now have to spend my life worrying about coming across this guy next time he delivers in the area?

Would Pick n Pay rather have an incident first occur whereby someone is assaulted or ******ed for them to take action? I have reported this violent man, why have you not acted? Why have you sent him to my place again? Out of all the companies who deliver to my address, I now have to send images of this guy to my family members and our security company so that he is on the radar, as someone who has access to where I live and poses a threat. We are living in a time where there is so much gender based violence, why would Pick n Pay not take precautions and show care for their customers?

Pick n Pay, this shows a lack of care for your most vulnerable customers (women, children and the elderly). Is this how you reward customers who support your business! Please close my ASAP account.

Kind Regards,

Compromised Customer
