Pick 'n Pay - Are they the best or maybe the worst?

I have been monitoring food prices for almost three years now (and longer). I don't believe Pick 'n Pay is doing enough to keep food inflation down, not taking into consideration their immense buying power. Our local store saw inhouse cheese jump from R79.99 p/kg to R94.99 p/kg. Coffee prices are skyrocketing mot even to mention toiletries and specific toilet paper. Vegetables like a bag of potatoes which sold a few months ago for R57.99 for 7 kg are now R75.99 for the same. It is ridiculous. Their SmartShopper rewards scheme is an insult to any consumer. The instant savings is all that is positive about this scheme. I have been in supply chain management and procurement for 33 years. So don't tell me they can't do better! Pensioners are suffering because of this beyond mentioning. The worst is that on pensioner days, we don't don't qualify for the full SmartShopper discounts! Why is this?
