Pick and Pay does not keep their promises
There are many supermarkets offering great deals and so it is sad that the one thing that would put a supermarket above others, customer service and courtesy, is simply not a priority for some. Pick and Pay Northgate has absolutely no consideration for the customer. Recently they ran a promotion where one would receive a sticker for spending a certain amount at the store. A collection of stickers would result in one receiving an earthenware dish, the number of stickers would determine the size of dish. As a customer who had once found the Northgate branch a convenient place to shop, I faithfully collected stickers and accumulated enough for the largest dish. When the time came to collect, I was told that there weren't any available. I was told to come at a later date. I did. And still there wasn't any stock. Eventually, I was told to leave my number and when stock was available, I would be contacted. I received an SMS weeks later saying that the weekend was the last date to collect. I ensured that I went the Saturday of the stipulated weekend and again was told there was no stock of the particular dish I had collected for. The lady I spoke to, whom I assume to be customer services, offered to give me two smaller dishes instead. As she was handing it over, another employee, who I was later told was in charge, pulled the dishes away. He did not address me, but spoke to her harshly in a language I did not understand. She tried to reason with him and he did not budge. I watched the exchange, dumbfounded, and yet still expecting an explanation. But the man, whose nametag simply said Thulani, ignored me and went about his way. The lady tried to explain that the 'manager' refuses to give me the offer. I was livid. I could not understand what was going on and why a manager could behave in such a manner. I addressed him. But his attitude was rude and dismissive. Anyway, I contacted Pick and Pay's head office and spoke to a person named Anwar who assured me that he would give me feedback by the next day. The store manager named Hadi called me and apologised on behalf of his employee and made promises of acquiring the dishes as soon as he could. I was contacted the next day by another representative and given the same assurance. This was two and a half weeks ago. And still nothing. It is not even about the dishes anymore. it is about the service Pick and Pay is offering. Needless to say, as a customer with many options and many other supermarkets to choose from, I will never buy from Pick and Pay again. And their word simply is not worth the meagre deals they have on offer.
