Pic n Pay disregard for sanitising and social distancing regulations - misleading their clients.
Early in 2010 after COVID lockdown and the introduction of a 70% minimum alcohol content for hand sanitiser was regulated, my wife and I both experienced that the "hand sanitiser" at Somerset West (Riverside) Pick n Pay branch was watery and did not smell like alcohol. I confronted the manager about this, but without getting any interest in my query. I then reported the supplier, Sulocare, on Hello Peter and the next morning around 08:00 I received a call from the Solucare manager, who tried to ensure me that his "sanitiser" would kill all viruses. After more cros****aminisation, he admitted that this "sanitser" contained (if I remember correctly) 7% or 9% alcohol only and pleaded with me not to report him to Pick n Pay. And within a week the sanitiser was replaced by 70% alcohol sanitiser. This weekend, when we visited the same Pick n Pay branch, I had the same feeling about the "sanitiser" at the entrance (after getting more suspicious for a couple of visites) and checked on the refill bottle again, and found that they were back to the old (2020) so-called sanitiser by Solucare. And on closer inspection, found that it expired on April 29, 2021. So either Pick n Pay at this branch still had some old stock which they decided to use again, or Solucare decided to get rid of their old stock. But either way, the Pick n Pay management were irresponsible and reckless by not checking on this and exposed/misled their clients and staff. I also noted that all social distancing markings in the queue line at the cash registers have been removed - and obviously clients decided that social distancing was not required anymore.
