Pathetic customer service
On 18 March, I took an opened packet of Enterprise viennas to my local Pick 'n Pay store (at Comaro Crossing, Oakdene, JHB) to be refunded following the listeriosis scare. The store manager (or acting store manager) then told me that he could not give me a refund as the packet was past the expiry date. I hadn't noticed this earlier. However, he then proceeded to tell me that as the viennas had been in the deep freezer, they should still be safe enough to eat provided I cooked, boiled or fried them. The mind boggles at this contradiction. Maybe they should refuse to give out any refunds whatsoever and provide this sage advice to their customers.
