OVERPRICED PICK n PAY

I can truly say I am horrified not only at the general food increases in Pick n Pay but the Duchess non-alcoholic gin and tonic sold in their Westwood Mall bottle store. Pick n Pay Westwood Mall bottle store started off selling the above product at an exorbitant R79.99!Tops Westville sell the same for R69.99 for a pack of 4. Oxford bottle store in Hillcrest R62.00 for a pack of 4, Makro R65 and Pick n Pay Westwood now sell it at R92.00 for a pack of 4!!? How can you honestly justify that price increase when you were overpriced already? None of the other stores have increased their prices in fact they are sometimes on a special and even lower price. I have also requested the Floral Duchess non alcoholic gin and tonic 9the other flavour) like the rest of the bottle stores but it falls on deaf ears with excuses as does the price increase.

Also the overpriced quality of the fruit and veg leaves a lot to be desired. The oranges and naartjies are always mushy soft and tasteless and feel as though they have been in refrigeration for weeks. Even when the packs of fruit and veg are reduced they still cost more than Food *****s Market. It is such a pleasure shopping at Checkers Westville Mall. Their groceries are well priced and superfresh. Their home cooked meals are also far superior to that of Pick n Pay.

I have also done numerous surveys posted by Pick n Pay but none of the inhouse issues including that of the bubblegum chewing brigade and unfriendly staff are ever addressed nor is the person who diligently sat filling in that onerous survey re-imbursed with any Smart Shopper points. Hats off to Checkers, we need one in Westwood Mall!

Reviewer Update
I received a call from the manager, Kevin at Pick n Pay Westwood Mall. He said that the price complaint it had been escalated to National level and their buying department. After that I heard nothing. Yesterday, I went into the bottle store to purchase the non alcohol Duchess Virgin Gin and Tonic and the exorbitant price of R92,99 was still advertised and still no Floral flavour. I took this up with the store manager Kevin who phoned someone in this regard. Kevin took down my details and said that the person would contact me directly and this very knowledgeable person to whom he spoke said that the opposition sold it for R89,99. What 'opposition' is that? I went directly to Tops bottle store in Westville and took a pic of their price, R69,99 for 4. You Pick n Pay are robbing the people with your price escalations. You were already expensive at R79.99 and then an escalation of R13.00? No one has explained that? Perhaps you need to look at the buyers Checkers and Spar use because they are by far outweighing you in terms of quality and price. I'm sick of hearing it's your buyers. Perhaps you need our Staff Training Company to train your staff from grass roots up to management level because at this rate this company does not augur well for the future. I am tired of your long queues, poor quality food, sky high prices, lack of customer service and unfriendly and unhelpful staff so like many other families in our area, we will simply take our business elsewhere where shopping is a pleasant experience.
