Overcharged!

I purchased an item at Pick n Pay on Nicol on Sunday. When I got to the till, it scanned at more than double the price it was marked at. I had to wait over 5 minutes for the manager, Shane, to arrive and rectify the situation. Pick n Pay has a company policy of giving the item to the customer for free when it scans at a price different to that which it is marked at. However, when I questioned Shane about this policy, he vehemently denied its existence and insisted that no such policy holds. This policy has been widely publicised since the CPA has been inacted, so why do certain Pick n Pay stores refuse to honour it? I am highly dissatisfied with your double standards, and have reported this matter to Wendy Knowler of Consumer Watch for further investigation.

Good day Trishania

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

The policy we have is our Double The Difference policy: If any item scans at a higher price than displayed on shelf and the barcode corresponds, we will give you the item at the marked price, PLUS double the difference off the first item and the subsequent items at the lower price.

We are addressing this incident with our management team and will revert with feedback.

Kind regards

Anwar Mooideen

Best regards,

Good day,

I have yet to receive feedback from you. To completely disregard company policy is unacceptable. This has been compounded by your inefficient service. I will be escalating this case to Consumer Watch for further investigation.
