Outrageous Service Experience at Pick n Pay Petervale

Good Afternoon,

An hour ago, I visited your Pick n Pay store in Petervale and endured the most appalling service I’ve ever experienced. I collected items from the grocery section and needed more from the liquor store. When I asked the security guard if I could pay in the liquor store, as I’ve seen others do, they radioed in and were told it was “full,” implying I wanted to dodge the grocery queue. I clarified my intentions and proceeded.

Entering the liquor store, an employee rudely questioned my presence, despite the store being open. Two customers ahead of me were verbally abused by the cashier, Fikile. One gentleman trying to send money was called “crazy” and told they don’t deal with “44 numbers.”

When it was my turn, my bill was R400 higher than expected. Fikile claimed this was because I chose to pay at the liquor store instead of the grocery section, insisting I pay the inflated price. When I challenged this, she dismissively said I had to pay up. My frustration peaked when she claimed she was “joking”—how can she joke with customers she doesn’t know?

Does your staff understand that customer service is crucial, especially in our current economic climate? Tomorrow, if Pick n Pay shuts down, it won’t be due to the government but due to this ********** service. As someone who deals with customers daily, I would never speak to anyone in such a manner because I know my salary depends on them.

To top it off, I returned to the grocery section to complain to a manager or supervisor, only to find the supervisor laughing in the liquor store. This level of service is absolutely unacceptable and tarnishes Pick n Pay’s reputation. to be honest,no star was deserved here.
