Only credit card refunds and vouchers???? Unacceptable!!!!

I recently bought a set of pajamas for my child from Pick n Pay Clothing at Cornwall View Shopping Centre. Unfortunately, the size didn’t fit, so I returned the item the very next day — still in perfect condition, with the slip.

When I asked for a refund, the staff insisted I needed to present a credit card to receive my money back, as the refunds to normal bank accounts is not working, especially refunds to TymeBank. I don’t own a credit card, and they were unwilling to assist further, offering only a Pick n Pay voucher as an alternative. I was told they don’t have cash on-site and cannot do refunds any other way.

As a paying customer, I find this completely unacceptable. A voucher is not the same as a full refund. I offered a simple solution — to contact one of the other Pick n Pay stores in Elarduspark to check if they had cash. The response? “They won’t answer the phone,” and “they probably also don’t have cash.” The staff showed no willingness to help or escalate the issue, treating it as if it were my problem that their refund systems are so limited.

It’s completely unreasonable that Pick n Pay only refunds customers who own credit cards. Many people use debit cards or other methods of payment, and this rigid policy is not consumer-friendly at all. If Pick n Pay cannot give cash refunds, they should at least offer an EFT option or some practical solution — not force customers into taking vouchers.

Pick n Pay needs to review their refund policy and ensure all customers, regardless of how they paid, are treated fairly. This experience was deeply disappointing.
