Off chicken / meat products
I purchased chicken breasts from Pick 'n Pay in Gardens Centre, Cape Town on the 24th December, came home to cook the chicken for our Christmas eve supper and the moment I opened the packaging a foul stench emanated from the chicken (the expiry / sell by date was 25.12.2017). I went back to Pick 'n Pay but the staff could not find a single manager to assist. This is not the first time that I have bought meat products from this Pick 'n Pay to find the products are off / gone bad. Quite frankly I am now NOT going to shop there anymore despite how conveniently close they are - I will rather shop at the Kwikspar in Vredehoek. An example: A couple of months ago I stocked up on bacon and put the packages straight into the freezer when I got home. When we defrosted them a month later, every single package was off. I don't know what the hygiene standards should be but surely the items sold should not go off that quickly? Dare I ask, is PnP re-dating and packaging their items?? Not to mention the lack of service from this branch of Pick 'n Pay - they have recently undergone a store make-over but the staff attitudes have definitely not changed / upgraded in the slightest. Suggest we all boycott Pick 'n Pay in favour of Shoprite / Checkers which have definitely changed with the times!!!!
