Not So Smart Shopper At All
I have had too many issues with Pick 'n Pay's amazing Smart Shopper reward system now. I have been abroad for two years and recently moved back to South Africa. As a result, a lot of my reward cards had gotten lost during the moving process. I was able to successfully recover my other cards without any issues. However, with PnP I have been unsuccessful. I've tried to connect my ID number and my new Smart Shopper card online - it didn't work. It said that it was registered to someone else even though I got it brand new from the store. They offered me a helpline number to phone online - I tried it and no one answered. I proceeded to dial the number they printed on the back of my Smart Shopper card - again, no one answered. This became quite an annoyance. I sent them an email - no response. Finally, I decided to visit the store and ask the friendly people there to help. A manager kindly directed me to the kiosk where a friendly lady assisted me. She phoned the customer care line - no one answered. She phoned them again. After a while, someone answered. Wandi was very friendly in helping me, even though the PnP system was performing poorly and loading at an excruciatingly slow pace. A full thirty minutes later, I was able to say goodbye to her and she said that my PnP Smart Shopper card should work now. I just tried to log in now, and the website won't allow me to log in because the card number is already registered to someone else. I am at my wits' end and I don't know how to move forward. I've mentioned this struggle to Wandi and she said she would pass it on to management. This is a redundant cycle since some people are bound to need a new loyalty card from time to time. If someone can fix their system or adjust the process to make it less painful, I would be able to be more loyal to PnP.
