No regard for pensioners with disabilities

On the 01.01.2018 after 12 in the day, I took my 64 year old mum , that has walking disability to cash out her Pension at Pick n pay Lambton Germiston. At the door I enquired at the counter if this store does pension pay outs at the till point and the female staff member confirmed they do . As my mum battled around the store , walking with the aid of her walking stick, we together picked out her products to purchase , we get to the till and wait in line. Once we empty out her trolley and advise the cashier we need her to swipe my mums SASSA card and then pay out the balance , she immediately refused and said she has no money. I was totally upset as I was in disbelief that the entire store did not have + - R1400 ( R1600- minus the items purchased) . So naturally I asked to see the manager as I could not understand how this store would turn down a pensioner in they defence that they did not have R1600 ?? now this is a huge store , its after 12 in the day and the store claimed not to have R1600??? The manager , a rude white man comes to the till, yells out ...."we have no money, my other cashiers on lunch and I cant open they tills " so again I asked, are you serious? the entire store with over 6 till points collectively do not have R1600? he says, I don't have it and walks away. My mum spent over half an hour in that store, walking from isle to isle ....by now she was exhausted .... then to be turned down so rudely with no valid explanation . That was totally disappointing , I wonder if this was not Racial ************** as we are Indians shopping in a dominant white store ? I don't think the service we received was fair . There was no signs put up to say that no funds are available to pensioners etc ....nothing. Shopping at this store was just a waste of our time . The manager clearly has now compassion for elderly people and no mannerism when addressing customers. I will never shop there again as we were made to feel inferior and the total disregard he had for my mum was disgusting. No matter what race , I believe respect for elderly people is very important . This manager ( sadly I didn't get his name ) has just given Pick n Pay a bad name.
