No limits on SASSA grant collection at PNP - long queues for elderly
I attempted to withdraw a SASSA grant yesterday at La Lucia Pick n Pay, on behalf of an elderly SASSA grant recipient.
There were about 8 elderly people ahead of me but the queue did not move for over 20 minutes despite there being two cashiers dedicated to SASSA payouts.
Upon investigation I found out that one individual had SIX cards and was withdrawing from all 6 and this resulted in severe delays for many elderly people in the queue.
Pick n Pay needs to introduce limits per person e.g. TWO cards max per person then rejoin the queue. Elderly people, many of them unwell should not be standing this long for some individual to withdraw from multiple cards.
Pick n Pay management please introduce these limits ASAP and place prominent signage indicating this rule.
