New tv remote not working after 3 months no help from pic n pay

I recently got a new tv from them a skyworth 40 inch tv. and after 3 months the tv remote stoped working. it has no damage butr was told sorry we cant help it is not under waranty. after i asked what does a new one cost i was told to phone skyworth as this is not from pic n pay. this is no way to deal with things if you sell a product should you not offer support for it???
