My mother Wrongfully accused of shoplifting PNP WITPOORTJIE

PICK N PAY WITPOORTJIE I am writing this very distraught.

On Friday, 3rd November, my mother, a pensioner, who has been a customer of Pick ‘n Pay Witpoortjie since you opened, was pulled aside by 2 security personnel. She was accused of *****ing, searched, her bag emptied out IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, and outright HUMILIATED, in front of EVERYONE. Where is the decency of taking a person to a private area.

She was “thought” to have ****** gum, as she had gum containers in her handbag. One container is from Australia and not even available in SA, and the other an old container with sweets.

Of these accusations she was of course completely INNOCENT. It is absolutely shocking how this matter was handled. People from her church and community, one of her neighbours did actually see this event, and just looked at her.

This is totally DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER. This is totally unacceptable. How can your staff treat people in this manner when they are not 100% certain. And then do this in a PRIVATE and DECENT manner..

They apologised, and now that is just it. Never mind the HUMILIATION and embarrassment this has caused my mother. She is still traumatised by this, and knowing her, she will be too embarrassed to show her face for a while.

I am TOTALLY AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. Vanitha, this response is copied onto all the complaints, below is one a few days ago, with the same response. This in no way solves the matter concerned, the damage done to my mothers name. What happens to the staff that did this. Where is an official apology to my MOTHER. I just cannot believe that this is the type of attention to detail that is paid by pick 'n pay to their customers. Has the manager at the Witpoortjie branch even been contacted or made aware of this. How many other times has this happened. When my mom was ****** in the same store a few years ago, management just said, "what must we do" now she gets harassed by security staff, and its just accepted. ****** Nonsense at Pick n Pay So yesturday I was kicked out Pick n Pay for telling a white woman that she had more than 10 items so sure she cant be in the Express till. Manager Alan who refers to himself as the owner told me I cant shop at his Pick nPay because I told another white woman the truth. Well I am never shopping there again. WHAT Do you expect though from Pick n Pay Heidelberg. I ask you to even speak to some of the black staff you will be shocked what you here.  Official business reply Good day Phiwe, Thank you for taking the time to address your concerns with us.
