More and More frustrations with Smart Shopper Credit Card
I shared the unfortunate experience I had with my Pick n Pay Smart Shopper Credit card since March this year with Hellopeter. The facts, to repeat them: if your Smart Shopper Credit card balance is over R2000 for the month you are entitled to a Bonus Cash of R100. However, on my 12 March statement there was no bonus.. I alerted them to this oversight. However, it seemed they could not understand and denied that I had spent R2000, although my statement showed a balance of over R2000. As a consequence, I paid the balance outstanding less the R100. The following month, to my horror, they charged me interest of R50. This went on after email after email with no understanding of their error. The following month, although the new month's cash bonus was paid, I was again charged interest of R62, which I refused to pay, including the original R100. Still no deduction of the original cash bonus of R100. But another interest charge of R70.94. It was, in desperation that I contacted Hellopeter. In response, I received a message from the Smart Shopper people that the bonus would be paid. It was paid on 15 July. Now I was interested to see if they would pick up on the interest they charged me for their error. To add insul to injury, my statement dated 12 August, correctly shows that at last the R100 cash bonus was credited to my account. But, believe it or not, I was again charged interest of R78.21. So total interest for their error, which they expect me to pay amounts to R260. My question is what do they not understand. Do they not realize that you do not penalize a customer for your error. Well this sage will continue for now I will pay the balance outstanding on my account less the interest of R260 and I am expecting I will again be charged interest. If it were not for the benefits of the Smart Shopper credit card with special discounts, I would long ago have cut up my card. I cannot understand the quality of staff employed by companies. All they needed to do was to read my many, many emails and perhaps have thought this matter through. However, it does seem to me that Pick n Pay management should investigate the Smart Shopper Credit card admin. This week after spending almost R1000, my Smart Shopper Credit card was declined. What an embarrassment. I spoke to the very helpful manager [Donald] at Pick n Pay George Mall and he tried to sort the matter out - the consultants he spoke to could not tell him what the problem was. After almost a hour, my card was accepted with no reason given for declining my card. The store manager informed me that he has a great of trouble with the credit card department. Stores cannot afford to have dissatisfied customers, Edgars is an example of what eventually happens.
