Mislead to open an account

I had just paid for my groceries when a gentleman approached me marketing the new account facility offered by Pick 'N Pay. I had no idea they were offering accounts and the gentleman gave a summary of what the product entailed. He then asked for my shopper card and asked if he could check if l was eligible or not to open the account. I told him several times l did not want an account and asked him many times if he was doing a credit check on me and he assured me it was just a checking if l would qualify. When l realised he was doing a credit check against my consent l left without giving him all my details. A few hours later l receive an email titled "Pick and Pay Store Account Application" thanking me for submitting my application.

According to FAIS:

- All representatives of FSPs should be honest and l feel this gentleman whose name l forgot was totally dishonest with me - Secondly he went against my consent to apply for an account which I specifically told him l did not want.

I am totally disgruntled by the service l received today at Pick 'n Pay.
