****MED BY PICK N PAY FOR OVER R8000.00

I am writing this review after repeated negative experiences with Pick n Pay, which have convinced me that this company has become a complete disappointment in both their service and integrity.

On Friday the 31st of October 2025, I received an SMS stating :

" Confirmation code: 800322 to pay ZAR 8634.93 to Pick n Pay Online shopping." This sms arrived at 17:18 31st October 2025.

The next sms was sent at 17:23pm 31st October 2025 stating:

" Confirmation code: 470770 to pay ZAR 8594.87 to Pick n Pay Online shopping."

Then the money went off my Spot bank account.

I immediately contacted my bank to block this transaction as I did not purchase anything from Pick n Pay and that my account was being de*****ed.

Kindly note on Friday the 31st I was working from home. I live in Brackenfell, north of Cape Town. I finish work at 5pm. I mention this because my location is important. My bank card was with me and I am very careful with my banking information.

My bank advised that I contact Pick n Pay helpline for them not to authorize this purchase.

I first tried to contact your helpline but it was after hours as they close their lines at 5pm.

I emailed the support at 18:13 31st October 2025 requesting that they do not approve this transaction as it had been *****.

I attached the screenshots of the messages that were sent to me. My bank informed that it was an online purchase but on their system it showed that my card was swiped in Cape Town Kenilworth center.

I have proof that it was not me. I reached out again to the Pick n Pay hotline and support email address on Saturday the 1st of November 2025 and did not receive any feedback.

On Monday the 3rd of November 2025 I tried calling yet again and my calls went unanswered.

I received an email from Pick n Pay support that my ticket had been closed with noone responding to my numerous mails.

I had to rate this ********** service with a bad in order for someone at Pick n Pay support to reach out to me.

This is alot of money for me just to ignore and not receive any help from your establishment.

I was eventually assisted by Mpyane ( no 1st name on his mails)

I told him from the beginning what transpired. He was slow to respond and showed no empathy to what had happened to me.

Only when I informed him that I would be suing Pick n Pay for ***** did I received less than mediocre assistance from them.

There was no timeline on what was happening or how long the investigation would take. I had to do their job for him requesting timelines.

I sent all the proof and communication that it was not me. I even informed them that I do not even have Pick n Pay ASAP on my phone.

He eventually responded to after I had demanded a response that I was at fault and I approved the purchased. What annoys me about this is that the was no investigation done. He just answered my email to add to his KPI daily target.

I requested the footage of me swiping that amount at this Pick n Pay store as I know all Pick n Pays have security cameras. I was ignored.

I enquired if I received an sms saying it was online purchase, why was it that it was now an in store purchase. Again I was ignored.

It is almost impossible to get proper assistance, whether in- tore or through their online channels. Staff often appear untrained or uninterested in helping customers, and queries are brushed off or ignored entirely.

Pick n Pay’s management clearly doesn’t take customer complaints seriously. Promises of “we’ll investigate” or “we’ll get back to you” rarely lead to any real resolution. It’s shocking how little regard they have for the people who keep their business running.

I am now filing a case of ***** against Pick n Pay and I want my refund as soon as possible.

Pick n Pay has completely lost the trust of many loyal customers. What used to be a reliable South African brand is now a frustrating, unreliable, and dishonest operation. Until they take responsibility and fix their systems, I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere.
