Me and my daughter were denied entry at PicnPay
I've just been denied access to PicnPay store Sunridge square because I am with a child. I was told kids were not allowed to the store and expected to leave my child with a stranger outside the door otherwise go back!

This morning I and my 3 year old daughter were denied access at the PicnPay store at Sanridge Square Midrand. The reason was "kids are not allowed in the store!". I told the man who works at the store who told me this that I am a single mother so what am I expected to do with my child. He rep**** I leave her with a man who was seating at the corner of the store. I rep**** that I cannot leave my child with a stranger. He said it's not a stranger he works at the store. I maintained that to me and my 3 year old he is a complete stranger. He said then I should go back pointing his finger out of the store.
I left with my child. We went to Woolworths and did not experience any issues. We bought what we needed and left.
Firstly the manner in which PicnPay was handled the situation was absolutely appaulling! It was very insensitive and extremely offensive. I understand that business and all of us as citizens have to play our part in fighting the spread of covid-19 but is this the best way??? Is asking a single South African mother to either leave her child with a stranger or go away the best approach???
Is it not a shortsighted rule to do such?? Couldn't I be offered other options that ensure that I get my essentials for myself and my toddler that is less threatening to her psychological and physical health as well as mine and the community at large??? We live in a country where violence and **** is an everyday occurrence even during these covid-19 days. Surely you cannot expect mothers to leave their kids with strangers! Not even in these covid-19 days!
I left feeling extremely frustrated with the store and especially the approach. This is completely unacceptable! This rule is an extremely ridiculous rule and very insensitive.
