Lemon: Alva Gas Heater

I was "tortured" today at Pick n Pay Hyper Faerie Glen Atterbury when I went to the store to return an Alva gas heater. We could not use the heater because a few minutes after lighting it on we almost suffocated and there was a growing strong smell of gas in the house. This was despite connecting it to a brand new gas bottle and after recommended gas leak tests advised on the manual. At first I was told by the manager to call the supplier because the heater was used and that the store policy is that they take sealed items only. The supplier told me to liase with the store and they have systems in place to handle returns. The manager then suggest i call the supplier's head office in CPTown and i was told the same story. The manager then suggest i sell it to recover my funds and as a way of doing away with the gadget. To my suprise while i was being taken for a ride, some customers were returning coffee machines, electic heaters and to my supprise even GAS HEATERS of other brands. I had to storm out to get the store to take the gadget back. I am so suprised at such a selective and racial customer service and i still need help to get a refund.
